Titanic

Jack is poor but happy. Rose is rich and engaged, but sad. They meet and fall in love on Titanic, the ship of dreams.

"I'm the King of the world!"

Nude drawing, sex, murder hand, hit the iceburg

. . .

Oops.

Ship sinks.

"Jack, this is where we first met."

The Nutcracker

It snows heavily. I tramp, late, to the bus stop. I run to the theater, up to the second balcony, and finally enter during the overture. My old friend debuts as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Tears fill my eyes; I meet her parents, but not her. Later, I wish her a Merry Christmas.

Roses

I've just come back from the recital, my arms full of roses. I hang some up to dry. My mother puts others in a vase. They wilt in the heat. I take them out the next day, but to no avail. A year later, they are still there. Covered in dust.

The Unbreakable Glasses

The unbreakable glasses were nearby on the floor. Their nerdy black frames and bright band made them noticeable. I roll over. They stay intact. They are stepped on, hit by a ball, attacked by the dog, they are not broken. Than I put a coffee mug on their arm. It snaps.

About the Blog

It all started one week at the Creative Writing Club. The president gave us some stoires to look over (in 55 words or less). Our activity that day was to write a story in 55 words or less. I liked it so much I decided to start this blog.

Welcome

Welcome to 55 Words or Less!

In 55 Words or Less, I try to tell a story in, you guessed it: 55 words or less. This helps with cutting out all those wonderfully sticky details and getting down to the telling of it.
